Recently, Bing has been adding several great features to its Shopping search. The search engine has been coming up with pretty interesting ideas to lure people away from Google’s almost supernatural reach. So far, it has been able be to gain some ground though only time will tell whether it would ever stand on even footing with Google.

Nevertheless, the search engine is actually very interesting to keep an eye on. In May, it launched a How Old feature for image search. This feature showed the search engine guessing someone’s age just by scanning the face in the image. Bing may be bringing in entertaining features, some of which are ultimately though. There are several interesting additions to the image search that are worth exploring. Here are some of them,

Favorite Images

Bing Image Search has this nifty little feature that allows users to bookmark or favorite images. There’s a small heart at the bottom left corner of the image. If you select it, the image is bookmarked and you can get back to it later. You might wonder how that’s relevant to marketing and we’ll get to that in a second. The ability to favorite images can be very convenient because customers can select the images of products they intend to purchase.

For example, if you were casually browsing the web and saw a handbag that would be a perfect Christmas gift for your sister, you can favorite that image until you have time to take a better look at it and purchase it.

Places to Buy and Image Stream

These two new features simply add to the convenience of shopping online. Let’s follow the example mentioned above. With Places to Buy, you can click on the small cart at the bottom of the image to get product information. So, you can click on the cart at the bottom of the handbag image and see how much the bag costs, where to buy it, reviews, and other such information.

With Image Stream, you can use the favorite image as a guide to find similar and related products. We suspect that this feature will become increasingly useful in the future.
